uncle gene
uncle gene was the uncle to my very good friend steve. i was very fortunate to have met and spend some time with this endearing man. he passed away last week. many of steve's friends and myself always loved hearing stories about uncle gene. he loved his martinis, rollercoasters, "piping hot" meals, mis-matched colored sweaters and shirts (he was colorblind) w/ usually one side untucked, a great brother/friend to his sister betty (steve's mom), a great uncle to betty's children, his idiosyncracies (just the old skool way of doing things: boxing his grass clippings, driving to pay his utility bills bc he was afraid of them getting lost) and just being around his family.
steve, uncle gene and i went to cedar point several years ago and he was in his late 50's(myabe early 60s?) and that man loved to ride the rollercoasters. i'll never forget him coaxing steve and i onto the rapture for something like the 3rd time that day. cheers to uncle gene riding high in the sky on a rollercoaster sipping a martini!!
