Bonjour! paris highlights
i just sent an email to a friend who's going to paris next week with some highlights from my trip there in 2002.
so i thought i'd "preserve" it and put it on my blog...in case i want to share now and later.
Louvre!!!!! ….duh! J but it is worth it…there’s a little café in the courtyard…nice for a café crème! (it’s to the left looking inside the courtyard)
*make sure you check museum openings bf you go…we went to louver on a tues or something and that was the day it was closed…so we had to come back
Musee D’Orsay—MY FAV! Impressionist art museum, old train station...and you can follow the guide/museum and it takes you from the beginning of the movement to the end…very interesting and great way to see it!
Latin Quarter- the cool part of town…artists live there, cool café’s, shops, etc.
NOTRE DAME!!---ok, another fav…go in the tower and walk to the viewing deck…so worth it…priceless…I got to touch the gargoyles!! J
VERSAILLES-I think you mentioned you were doing a day trip here…totally worth it.
PABLO PICASSO MUSEUM…pretty cool. There was a totally charming place right around the corner called L’Apparement Café. We had a little breakfast there (totally affordable) and then went to museum (where we saw Madeliene Albright!?!?)
Pompeii Dou—cool area with tons of artists…I think it’s an art school. Very modern sculptures outside and people just hanging around the big open area.
CHAMPS DE ELYSEES- gotta see it at least…the strip with all the shops…but expensive…
*there’s a ton of advertisements for the “Musee de l’eroticism”…it’s in the Moulin rouge area(which is really seedy—beware…esp at night!?)…the museum was icky..my friend june wanted to check it out…not worth it.
