new year = new job
so it's been one heck of a crazy week...i found out last week i was being layed off from nettwerk in january. but in that same call came another job lead and within 72 hrs of finding out i was being layed off i was on a plane to white plains, NY to interview for a job w/ a new music distribution co: Fontana Distribution.
i found out on weds afternoon that i got the job!? and i start on jan 3rd!?
i can't believe what, how, etc this all happened. i feel very fortunate to be given this opportunity. i get to work from my home and this job is a promotion too: National Account Manager and i'm even making more money!? yikes! i'm one lucky sonofabitch...i know it's tough out there and even tougher in the music biz--i have looked around over the past several months and even done some screener-type interviews outside "da biz" and it ain't easy! i had been pretty much prepping myself to leave this crazy biz...but i also feel like i was ready for a new challenge--so gonna give this a try and see how it goes and figure out what my next step will be after this one. (not to mention i have a mortgage to pay now too!? and am going to need a new car pretty soon!?)
whether i decided to stay in the biz or not...i know finding a job is tough out there...so i woulda been a fool to pass up this opportunity. i really think i'm going to be learning alot bc it's a startup company owned by Universal Music Video & Distribution. great benefits come with it too. and home!!?? no more of that shitty commute to arlington hts?!!? yipeeeeeee...i'm sure this will have it's ups & downs too...but was so ready for a change!!!!! i'm sure more to come about this. but this was a huge reason why i haven't been able to blog lately...
