lights out!!!
so after a ride home on the EL that seemed to take FOREVER...(and there was a delay at the belmont stop!?). walk home from el...and as i'm walking down my block (the home stretch)..i'm noticing people on my street outside their houses and hear someone say "electricity"...No..Nooo...NOOOOOOOOOO!!! as i get o my bldg...yep! dark as can be. one of my neighbors just bought a kiddie pool and was sitting in it and her daughter was there w/ her. i asked how long it had been and it had been about 20 minutes...she invited me and i said: sure! took my stuff outta my pockets and just sat in!? chilled for a few moments...then went inside to shower and hopefully things would go back on shortly!! HA!
i even opted and called a friend about maybe coming over there...but then realized: my car is gated in!? i didn't know how to open the gate!??!
i called her back and said: i'm sure it'll go on soon...
well--it was one long and painful night. i was sleeping on my livign room floor in hopes of getting more air bc there are more windows there...but there wasn't even a breeze in the air. i even went into my car at 4am to just sit in AC for 15 minutes. i heard on the radio it was 90 degrees?! i was even sleeping w an ice pack on my neck (or trying too)...i even got into the bath a few times w/ cool water and splashed it on me. just after that long day outside...it was TOO MUCH!
well...the electric co did not show up until about noon...i headed out to Panera to try to get some work done bc they have Wi-Fi. i sat there for almost 3 hours working away and sipping on some lemondate. got home around 3:30pm and everything was up and running.
man, it was a rough one that's for sure?! i would do lollapalooza again--but if i come home and electricity is out...i'm going to a local hotel!?
btw-a transformer had blown in the alley behind us--they had to replace it.
